Compass Charter Schools is seeking volunteer Board Members based in the Los Angeles area to help provide oversight, guidance, and leadership in support of its mission to serve scholars and families through personalized public charter school education. Board Members play an important role in governance, accountability, strategic planning, and community stewardship while helping ensure Compass continues to provide high-quality, flexible learning options for scholars across California, including families served by the Los Angeles charter.

Roles & responsibilities

Board Members provide governance, oversight, and strategic guidance to support the mission of Compass Charter Schools. Responsibilities include attending board meetings, reviewing key materials, supporting accountability and fiscal oversight, helping guide long-term planning, and serving as a community ambassador for Compass. Board Members are expected to act in the best interest of scholars and families while helping ensure the school remains compliant, transparent, and mission-focused.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should be based in the Los Angeles area and have a strong interest in supporting public education, personalized learning, and scholar success. Ideal candidates bring experience in areas such as education, nonprofit leadership, finance, law, business, community engagement, marketing, or governance. Board Members should be collaborative, mission-driven, ethical, and willing to actively participate in meetings, review materials, and serve as ambassadors for Compass Charter Schools.
