Mission: ExpandLA is an intermediary organization that supports, connects, and advocates for expanded learning opportunities that provide equitable access for all children and youth in the LA area. Position Description

The Partnerships & Community Engagement Program Coordinator will help the Connect Team to build and maintain external partnerships, manage the ExpandLA provider network, and develop community engagement initiatives. They will develop written communications, including social media posts and strategies; and oversee various administrative functions to help advance the mission and strategic goals of ExpandLA.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for both leading and supporting projects and events that engage the network of providers and stakeholders. They will work alongside the Youth Hub Coordinator to support efforts in developing ExpandLA’s Youth Hub initiative, including managing the youth social media accounts through engaging youth and their posts. This person will be someone who is passionate and enthusiastic about the sector and working with young people, and who is interested in making a positive change.

Roles & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Community Outreach & Partnerships

*Collaborate with the Connect Team to build and maintain collaborative relationships with a broad array of stakeholders including parents, youth, community-based organizations, and schools

*Nurture meaningful relationships with providers, especially as it relates to areas that inform ExpandLA’s programming, collaborations, youth leadership and communications

*Co-lead development, implementation and facilitation of ExpandLA network opportunities, such as network meetings, listening sessions, focus groups, and information sessions

*Support in developing community engagement strategic plan and implement initiatives to foster collaborations and meaningfully engage ExpandLA’s network of partners

*Assess and map resources and organizations to engage a diverse spectrum of community-based organizations that serve youth in order to inform a directory/platform of resources

*Co-lead planning and facilitation of ExpandLA’s Advisory Board and Advisory Board subcommittee meetings

*Collaborate with the Youth Hub Coordinator to use an asset-based youth development approach to facilitate the development of the Youth Hub initiative, including co-leading community assessments and mapping

*Support Youth Hub & Youth Initiatives through supervising youth workers through county/city programs

*Ensure culturally appropriate and responsive strategies to engage the populations served

Project Management & Program Development

*Collaborate with the Director of Partnerships and Programs to guide high-quality program development and implementation

*Contribute to team and organizational strategic planning and evaluation, including tracking programmatic performance measures and helping draft reports

*Use Asana to create project workflows and tasks

*Drive several projects at once, maintain internal organizational systems, and track project timelines and progress

*​Oversee the planning and coordination of network convenings, programs, and events, including planning meeting agendas and content, coordinating with vendors and booking venues, creating marketing materials, executing programs and presentations, developing follow-up materials, and evaluating program success and impact

*Provide administrative and logistics support for ExpandLA meetings, events or initiatives; including note-taking and supporting with follow-up

*Support the planning and coordination of projects as needed

Communications & Marketing

*Liaise and maintain communications with partners, including coordinating meetings, developing agendas, facilitating, note-taking, and sending follow-up materials

*Write and edit communication (both internal and external) materials including newsletters, social media content, outreach emails, reports, etc.

*Design visual communications materials, including slide decks, brochures, graphics, invitations, flyers, info sheets, social media toolkits, data visualizations, etc.

*Build ExpandLA’s social media presence and support communications to highlight impact, connect with stakeholders, connect youth to opportunities, and raise awareness of advocacy efforts and funding opportunities

*Manage ExpandLA’s youth social media accounts and work with youth to post their content

Employee Recruitment & Hiring

*Collaborate in developing job descriptions for new staff hires under the Connect Team

*Assist in reviewing application materials, developing interview process, and interviewing and evaluating candidates

*Support with onboarding and training new staff members

Qualifications

Competencies

Bachelor's degree in related field preferred

A minimum of 5 years of professional and/or lived experience in a related field

Driver’s license required, and able to travel to meetings, events, etc.

Experience with Google Workspace products, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and an aptitude for learning new applications

Experience and skills in facilitating meetings and training preferred

Experience in asset-based youth development programs

Skills in written and verbal communication

Skills in designing social media posts and campaigns

Experience utilizing google workspace

Leadership, initiative and positive energy

Ability to give and receive feedback

Critical thinking and strategic planning

Ability to navigate multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment

Ability to collaborate with the ExpandLA team and our partners

Other

Carry the collective vision, engage and excite others

Maintain regular communication and collaboration with ExpandLA staff

Prepare accurate and timely reporting

Participate in data collection/evaluation strategies and efforts

Other duties and special projects as assigned

Requires occasional weekend and evening work as well as travel

Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
