Camp Bob Waldorf serves youth from under-resourced neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County along with underserved and under-engaged Jewish youth from the greater Los Angeles area.

About this job

Responsibilities:

Year-round leadership, administration and oversight of the entire facility operation which includes:

• Directly supervising 6 full-time, year-round staff and being responsible for a team of up to 100 staff members during summer season.

• 5 camper weekend retreats (160 campers) and a successful 10-12-week summer overnight camp program (160-200 campers/session).

• Year-round food service.

• Year-round facility/housekeeping of property (112 acres and 30+ buildings).

• Manage year-round Executive Chef in maintaining delicious, healthy, dynamic menu selections for summer camp and year-round programming, appropriate kitchen staffing and accurate food expense budgeting.

• Manage Facility/Housekeeping team in maintaining high standards for the 112-acre facility and 30+ buildings.

Administrative duties:

• Manage camp budget. Report and explain any variances to JBBBSLA Director.

• Maintain annual certification and accreditation from ACA, LADPH, USDA, CHP.

• Be involved with ACA, AIJC, FJC and JFEDLA.

• Manage hiring process for all positions.

• Foster and develop relationships with neighbors.

Compensation and Benefits:

Camp Bob Waldorf offers a compensation package that includes a competitive salary range commensurate with experience. Salary range: $90,000-$110,000 plus housing.

Qualifications

Qualities and Qualifications Sought in Camp Director:

• Experience working with low-income, diverse populations, understanding new traditions and cultures.

• Minimum B.A. from an accredited college or university.

• Experience in directing youth programs and/or camps in an overnight setting.

• Support and maintain a high level of customer service to camp families and community partners.

• Good communication skills – strong manager, ability to give and receive feedback, leader with a proven track record of excellent communication skills.

• Knowledge and commitment to “best practices” in the camping field and accreditation procedures with ACA.
