The YWCA GLA is the owner and operator of seven Empowerment Centers throughout LA County. In addition, it provides services at five satellite offices; these combined sites touch over 100,000 individuals and families.

About this job

The Development Manager will be responsible for leading efforts to raise philanthropic funds from corporations, foundations, individuals and through events. The manager will be a key member of the Development team that will be collectively responsible for growing the department's annual fundraising goal from both existing and new partners. This position will be accountable for a certain portion of the department's fundraising goal to be determined in agreement with the reporting manager.

Roles & responsibilities

Statement of Duties

- Manage, engage, and retain a diverse portfolio of funders to help meet fundraising goals

- Successfully steward YWCA's donor relationships, managing appropriate frequency of outreach, communication and involvement

- Collaborate with the Communications Team to create and implement donor communications and acknowledgement related to cultivation of partners

- Recommend new engagement opportunities and implement best practices for future partnerships

- Innovate around new fundraising practices that the organization could adopt

- Create and refine fundraising proposals and materials

- Gather information to prepare proposals and progress reports

- Analyze and synthesize data to tell a compelling story to stakeholders

- Partner with Program Department and Grants consultant to coordinated tailored funding proposals and repots for funders

- Work closely with CEO to identify, engage and cultivate new prospects, including identifying companies whose funding priorities match YWCA's programs

- Research prospects by scanning media sources/trade journals, etc. for potential funders

- Provide departmental & event support

- Manage Development Coordinator and ensure correct management of administrative tasks within the department such as gift logging and donor appreciation

- Help support event creation and management

- Work with Development team to ensure logistics of events are taken care of such as location decoration, program creation, food and drinks, fundraising tools if applicable, etc.

Salary: $80,020-$88,000

Qualifications

- Minimum two years of college, Bachelor's degree preferred or

- Combination of education and experience totaling 5 years of demonstrated knowledge

- Experience in non-profit fundraising, relationship management or related fields

- Grant writing experience a plus

- Plan, manage and promote events to the business community

- Experience and contacts in Los Angeles county are a plus

- Current knowledge of fundraising trends across multiple markets

- Strategic thinker with the ability to manage short term and long-term plans and goals, with a record of achieving results

- Solid, persuasive communication skills, including written; ability to deliver inspiring and succinct presentations and conduct productive meetings

- Demonstrate good judgment, strong emotional intelligence, and an entrepreneurial spirit

- Authentic persona who is a natural collaborator

- Strong passion for and commitment to YWCA's mission of delivering high-impact service to women

- Ability to work evenings and weekends for events

- Valid driver's license and auto insurance
