  • PLAY ·2025 Grants Challenge

    Safe Passage Program for LA County Youth

    Youth Justice Coalition will launch a Safe Passage Program and expand community-led safety at Chuco’s Justice Center—providing safe, reliable transportation and daily peacebuilding support for system-impacted youth. Through van-based transit, restorative safety trainings, and a youth-developed community code, we will create a model for law-enforcement-free zones rooted in care, healing, and accountability in South Central LA.

    Youth Economic Development Pathways: Money Talks

    Youth Justice Coalition will expand paid fellowships and reentry support for system-impacted youth, creating pathways into stable careers in health, construction, organizing, and public service. Through mentorship, trauma-informed job training, and a peer-led development pipeline, youth will earn wages while transforming their communities and building long-term financial independence.

    Transformative Justice Education & Holistic Youth Support

    Youth Justice Coalition (YJC) will expand holistic support for system-impacted youth through FREE LA High School—providing trauma-informed education, legal advocacy, emergency housing and wellness resources, and career pathway training in construction, culinary arts, public health, and organizing. By centering transformative justice and individualized mentorship, the program helps youth stabilize, graduate, and pursue meaningful employment and leadership in their communities.

    Rebel Garden Expansion

    Youth Justice Coalition will expand Rebel Garden—South Central LA’s youth-led green space—by breaking asphalt, installing an irrigation system, and launching paid youth garden leadership roles. This expansion will transform a heat-exposed corner of Chuco’s Justice Center into a sustainable hub for urban farming, wellness, and environmental justice, offering healing and nourishment to system-impacted youth and their communities

    CAT 911 Coalition

    Youth Justice Coalition requests project funding of $200,000 over 2 years from LA2050 to advance our work to transform LA County and build a culture of transformative justice, develop the skills to reduce harm, promote healing, and disrupt injustice by decreasing police and prison spending in Los Angeles County.
